Alright. We have a confession. We brought our baby girls home on Tues. the 30th and we didn't tell a soul... well, except maybe grandparents... all in hopes of having a little time to enjoy our peanuts before being mobbed by visitors. It was pretty exciting and completely unexpected and thanks to our vehicle getting stuck half in the driveway half in the street it will also make for good storytelling. Someday my hubby might even look back and chuckle.. but not quite yet.
Things are going well. The first night was pretty sleepless for us as the girls still need to eat every 3 hours and were having their own adjustment period to all this. Last night went much smoother and I can say I feel relatively rested. The dog has adjusted, mostly because I think she has absolutely no interest in the girls. We tried to introduce them, but she was more concerned whether or not one of our hands might let go of one of those little things and pet her. As for Maggie, well, being a cat she is awfully fond of milk and one needs to keep a close eye on her around the bottles and bibs. Thank goodness she only has 3 legs so she can't get up on the counters, but I feel like if she isn't careful her number of legs might dwindle. She has been very curious and comes right up to the girls to sniff their heads, but that is as far as it has gone. I think her curiosity in them is quickly subsiding.
Luckily, we had somehow managed in all of this to set aside some funds so that Brian can take some time off work, too. So now we get a couple weeks to adjust to this new idea of family; absolutely lovely but still a bit surreal.
That is wonderful news that you are all home together!
