Back from Virginia Beach all in one piece. It was an adventure to say the least. Like any family function it cannot take place without some drama. Did I say some? I meant A LOT! It started about 12am Friday nite when Erin called to say that she and her fiance were stuck in New York as their flight had been canceled until the next morning and that their hotel in VA had canceled their reservation and had no more rooms available. To top it off, their phones don't work in the US so there was no way to keep in touch with them.
We made it to VA safely and around 3pm we finally met up with the happy couple. Still smiling. We got them a room (there were 2 honeymoon suites open- weird) and proceeded with the weekend. The wedding didn't take place as scheduled as the bride and groom got lost and were an hour late (thanks a lot Garmin), but thankfully it did take place. Just an hour late. Luckily the wedding that was suppose to take place after theirs had actually been moved up earlier in the day. It was a beautiful ceremony right on the beach.
An hour and half drive to the Horansky family reception the next day took just over 4 hours. Thank god there was beer when we arrived.
Then to top things off we were up at 4am and to the airport only to have the most ridiculous wait as there was an "electrical problem" that needed to be fixed before we could take off. Talk about nerve racking. Who wants to be on a plane after it was discovered to have a problem minutes before take off? Well almost 6 hours after our original take off time we were in the air having already missed our connecting flight. That simply meant adding an additional flight to our list in order to make it back to Sioux Falls, SD where we had left from. Then an hour drive to my parent's house after stopping to eat since we didn't have a meal since 6:30am. Then another 3 hour drive for me back here. I finally got back with just shy of 24hrs worth of travel under my belt. My girls were sleeping so just small pecks. My hubby was a sight for sore eyes and almost as excited to see me as the dog was. She apparently missed me wholeheartedly and then some.
So now I am very sleep deprived and sick to top it off. Picked up a cold at the beginning of the weekend. My ears are slowly returning to normal after 5 flights in 4 days. But I'm home now and happy to be here. I will eventually post some wedding pics, but not today. Not today.
So very happy you are home safe and sound. I had 2 little whispers in my ears last weekend...something about daddy's awesome but we sure miss mommy! And one BIG shout...where's my Kelly??? You were definitely missed! Do hope you had some good times and memories. Can't wait to see pics~Mom W.
